ABOUT THE ART

Models and other subjects are photographed both in the studio at my home, as well as on location. Medium format is the camera of choice because of the high quality negatives this work demands while remaining agile and flexible.

Recently I have begun working with large format (8x10”) cameras. The careful and deliberate techniques these large cameras demand are well suited to my style of exploring intimate detail in my subjects.

Film choices are typically Iford Pan-F, FP4+ and HP5+, depending on the application. I will occasionally use Near IR film (Ilford SFX) for figure work (see Girl in the Pillars in the Figure Gallery).

All prints are hand-crafted in my darkroom on Agfa fiber based gelatin silver papers, selenium toned, and archivally processed. Most prints are approximately 8x8” (on 14x17” or 16x20 mats) or 11x11” (on 20x24” mats). All are mounted on acid free museum quality rag board. Prints are in limited editions of 24, numbered and signed on the front and with a custom stamp on the back.
